Big Day Out 2012

Matt and MPH were once again heavily involved with BDO for 2012, unbelievably for such a young (and handsome) bloke it was Matt’s 18th year working on the festival. From his early days at CLS to now, he knows this festival inside out.
As with most we were a little disheartened to see the festival downsized in some states and attendance definitely suffered for it but we’re thinking the new people looking after the festival are going to ramp it up and knock our socks of in 2013. Watch this space.
As for the part MPH played...
The largest component of gear supplied was the package of staging and rigging for the boiler room across three states. This included 350m2+ of event deck which integrated box truss arches on stage for hanging lighting and video. PA support arches and room rigging was customised to suit the large tent structure on the Gold Coast and in Melbourne.
MPH LED Balls featured heavily in the boiler room, with Sydney based Lighting Designer, Jamie Centofani, at the helm the LED Balls system provided dynamic space filler for the enormous Sydney Show Ground Exhibition Halls. The system was set up in three grids 12 x 10 (120x) LED Balls and were controlled via DMX and Arkoas Media Server.
This year also included two systems of Soft-LED, a 7.5m x 10m System for Noel Gallagher at all shows and a 20m x 10m backdrop for Kanye West. Both systems had their LDs supply a video input from Catalyst and were looked after by MPH touring crew.
